About

Owner, Jim Rolette, started his diving career in the Gulf of Mexico in 1982. Life brought him back to the Chicago area in 1989 where he started inland diving with Chicago Underwater under the direction of Jim Peterson. Following Peterson’s untimely passing, the company changed hands and the name was a thing of the past. Rolette’s diving career continued, were he gained years of valuable experience in the industry that he now applies in his own company. As his company took new direction, Rolette wanted to focus on a “quality over quantity” approach, like that of his mentor, and Chicago Underwater reemerged.

Chicago Underwater offers a variety of diving services to clients such as electric utilities, manufactures, contractors, and engineering firms to name a few. Service crews are skilled in the fields of millwrights, traveling screen repair, certified underwater welders’, boilermakers, pipefitters, dredging, and more. Providing our clients an experienced, hard working, crew with breadth and depth of experience and technical skills to assess and complete any underwater job is our priority. Proficient divers, along with an advisory staff with over 35 years of experience, results in quality craftsmanship and dependability.
